About
STINC
We
represent a growing number of local people who are seriously
worried about the new wind developments currently being
proposed for Davidstow, Hendraburnick, Otterham and the repowering of
Delabole and are
committed to stopping the construction of these and any further wind
farms
in North Cornwall.
The
group was formed at a public meeting of about 200 residents on
13th August 2007 at Clease Hall, Camelford. All of the committee
members are local residents and are working for the group as
volunteers.
At
first the proposal for the turbines at Davidstow Moor was the most
pressing concern for most people, however we quickly learned from
wind farm proliferation in other parts of the country, especially
Scotland, that this area is extremely vunerable to pressure from
wind energy companies. So even if we did prevent the development
on Davidstow Moor there is nothing stopping the another windfarm
company re-applying in the future, and we could also be hit by a new
proposal for a new site a couple of miles down the road. Bodmin
Moor is not a national park and so has no protection from these
threats.
This
website is designed to inform the general public of the many untruths
and misleading statements that the major wind power companies (and the
Government) make about these windfarms.
This
includes just how much power windmills actually generate, what the
ecological and natural cost of erecting the monoliths really is, how our
children are being fed misinformation at school, and more.
So please
join us in the fight to save our countryside from a new type of
industrial revolution - one that makes money for the large corporations
at the expense of our land, our scenery and our lives; yet one we are
told will change our lives for the better.
None of
us are against renewable energy sources or reducing carbon emissions,
but we don't want it to be done in a way that destroys our countryside
and wildlife whilst lining the pockets of faceless people in offices,
miles away from here, who won't have to live with the damage and
consequences of these machines.
STINC
needs more active members to join the team. If you are able to offer any
help at all, please contact our secretary at kickup@stinc.co.uk

Thank
you for your support.
